USOSA is the incorporated Trustee of the
Alumni Associations of all 104 Federal
Government Colleges, Federal Government
Girls' Colleges, Kings College, Queens
College, and other federal institutions in
Nigeria. With over 1,000,000 members
worldwide, USOSA was incorporated in April
2007 and has a functional Secretariat in
Abuja.
The precursor to USOSA was the "Federal
Government Colleges Old Students
Association" (FEGOCOLOSA), established in
the 1970s. However, FEGOCOLOSA lost
momentum and eventually fizzled out.In
2006, a group of concerned graduates from
Federal Unity Colleges (FUCs) came together
to challenge the Federal Government's plan
to hand over FUCs to state governments. Led
by industry leaders like Engr. Elens
Eigbokhan, Albert Okumagba, and late Chief
Chyna Iwuanyanwu, the group formed "The
Pro Unitate Forum" and met with President
Obasanjo on February 23, 2006.This meeting
marked the beginning of USOSA, which was
formally established to rekindle the vision of
Nigeria's founding fathers. USOSA aims to
promote academic excellence, national
integration, leadership, capacity building, and
national unity among Unity Schools' alumni.
